Full Commitment vs. The Danger of ‘Mixture’: Why Partial Obedience Guarantees Partial Access

The Undeniable Framework for God’s Friendship

As purposeful leaders and architects of generational legacy, we know that every successful enterprise, every groundbreaking methodology, and every enduring structure relies on a clearly defined framework. If you want a specific result, you must adhere to the specific process.

The same is unequivocally true for the deepest, most strategic relationship available to us: friendship with God.

This framework for friendship with God is non-negotiable. It does not tolerate half, delayed, or tweaked obedience. It is parametered by the fear of God and gives us that supreme access to His secret counsel we discussed—the key intelligence needed for peak human potential.

Abraham vs. Lot: The Intimacy Divide

We previously explored the strategic advantage Abraham gained when God decided to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. In Genesis 18, God shared His destructive plans with Abraham, giving His friend advanced notice and the opportunity to intercede.

But here is the profound, executive-level question we must consider:

Why did God find it necessary to tell Abraham, who didn’t even live there, yet did not feel the same obligation toward Lot, who was living directly in the path of the coming destruction?

God didn’t consult Lot beforehand about the plan to judge Sodom, as He did with Abraham. Lot was only informed by angels right before the judgment to give him a rescue order.

Lot was Abraham’s kin, and more importantly, he was a righteous man. After all, 2 Peter 2:7 referred to Lot as righteous. Lot was a believer; he walked by principle. But what was missing was the depth of intimacy, the specific kind of walk that Abraham possessed.

There had to be a commitment, an understanding, and an obedience level with Abraham that simply did not exist with Lot.

The Cost of Tweaking the Instruction

The difference between Lot and Abraham often comes down to the willingness to compromise, or what Bidemi Mark-Mordi refers to as “tweaked instructions.”

We see Lot’s pattern of tweaking instructions play out again later. When the angels commanded Lot and his family to flee Sodom and not look back, Lot begged to go to a smaller, closer city instead of the mountain. He tried to renegotiate the blueprint.

When we tweak our instructions like Lot did, we put ourselves in harm’s way.

This act of partial, adjusted obedience reveals a heart that is not fully surrendered to the sovereignty of the Commander. It shows a desire to still hold the steering wheel, to mix human comfort and logic with divine directive.

The Executive Danger of ‘Mixture’

In leadership and life design, mixture is never healthy. You cannot fuse two metals and expect the original strength of both, nor can you mix contradictory strategies and expect peak results.

Spiritually, this translates into a devastating truth: One foot in, and the other out, isn’t the template for Kingdom Authority.

Attempting to walk with God while reserving the right to adjust His instructions is the definition of mixture. And while Lot’s basic salvation was secured (“righteous”), his intimate access, his strategic counsel, and his overall prosperity were tragically compromised. He got out alive, but his legacy was damaged by fire.

This brings us to a singular, unavoidable decision that every purposeful leader must make:

We must decide if we want to experience all of God or part of Him.

Partial obedience guarantees partial access, partial blessing, and partial wisdom. To receive the full, powerful blueprint for your 100-Year Legacy, you must be fully committed to the framework of fearless, immediate, and untweaked obedience.

Confession and Declaration:

Father, I want all of you. Teach me how to walk with you so I never have to guess what you are doing and require of me, in Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
