I have a habit, and I have been told it is a bad one; I don’t listen to the news.  I don’t listen to the news because the last time I checked, it is bad, sad, angry or frustrating news back to back.  Suddenly, it seems like our world is predominantly bad and finding good in it is like looking for a needle in a haystack…however, I am personally determined that every time you take a look at the world, and you look in my direction, you will always find good.  Thankfully, I am not the only one who is this determined; I know some other people who have made this commitment too.

Which is why even if you call me naive, I wake up daily committed to being one of the goods you will find if our paths do cross. I also, wake up hoping if my paths cross yours you will be some of the great good I see.  However, this is not always so… ask any one of those trying to be good, and they will tell you there are too many disappointments along the way that they sometimes wonder; if it is not easier to blend and be like everyone else.  I have asked myself this question many times too.

Beyond the pain of disappointments and the torture of deliberate wickedness, however, is what I call the APT or ADVANCED PLACEMENT TEST.  The APT TESTs are as painful as they can be, and present as wickedness or disappointment most of the time. However, they need to be examined thoroughly to discern that while they present as some of the ‘deliberately planned wickedness’, they are allowed by the Great God who has us on assignment to prepare us for our Advanced Placement.

Why do I need to take a test I didn’t enrol for just to prove that I am ready for the next level, I can never fully comprehend or explain, but I can tell you it is the way it has been and will probably always be.  Ask Joseph, ask David, Abraham, Paul, Peter and I can go on and one thing you will find in common with them all is that to qualify for the next level they took the test.

This morning I went through another round of test, and all I ask and pray is that I pass and move on.  Sometimes the test is one-off, at other times they are a series.  Nations face the test; families face the test and individuals go through the test.

The one thing that is common in every situation is that ultimately if you pass, you are moved to a higher level.  Singapore, China, passed through and at the end of the tunnel, they were placed. Nigeria… will pass through and in the end, she will be placed.

The key is two-fold, first recognise that the test is not your final destination and second, make sure that you do your very best, expect the best and know you are worth it!

This is why when I got home today, even though I feel like I don’t have the strength to go on I am planning for all I have to do tomorrow because as I have come to find out, not even an APT test can stand in the way of the man or woman who has discovered their super power.
